What does SFIC stand for?

SFIC stands for Small Format Interchangeable Core, a lock system that allows cores to be quickly removed and replaced using a control key.

Do you provide product documentation?

Yes. Product resources, list pricing, and other technical documents are available here.

Troubleshooting & Support

How do you remove an SFIC core?

An SFIC (Small Format Interchangeable Core) is typically removed using a control key designed for that specific lock system. Insert the control key into the core, rotate it to the control position, and the core will align to the removal position. Once aligned, the core can be pulled out of the housing.

If a control key is not available, the core generally cannot be safely removed without proper authorization or tools, as SFIC systems are designed for controlled access and security. Always ensure you are using the correct key system and follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for your specific lock hardware.

General Information

Where are SFIC locks commonly used?

SFIC (Small Format Interchangeable Core) locks are commonly used in commercial and institutional buildings where quick rekeying and key control are important, including schools, office buildings, hospitals, universities, and government facilities. They’re also used in property management and maintenance environments where frequent access changes are needed.

What are the benefits of interchangeable core lock systems?

Interchangeable core systems simplify rekeying, reduce maintenance time, improve key control, and allow facilities to quickly respond to personnel or security changes.

Can SFIC systems help reduce maintenance costs?

Yes. Because cores can be replaced without disassembling the lock, maintenance and rekeying procedures are often faster and more cost-effective.
